UU the Vote is partnering with multiple national organizations to register and activate minority voters in Tier 1 states which are swing states with a history of voter suppression. Although these voters can be challenging to reach, the partner organizations offer a range of options to engage with these voters including phone banking, text banking and mailing postcards. Training and support are available for all these platforms. Below is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Phone Banking with Reclaim Our Vote Every Tuesday starting July 7, 2020
Training for new volunteers starts at 4:30 ET. Reclaim Our Vote is the only campaign reaching out exclusively to voters of color in such large numbers, in six major voter-suppression states.
Arizona Text Banking with Voto Latino— July 10, 2020 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM ET
Voto Latino uses a powerful text banking platform called Hustle. Text banking is extremely easy. Volunteers are assigned to send texts in blocks of 50 which requires fifty quick clicks. As responses are received, volunteers select pre-determined responses from a drop-down list.
Phonebank with Showing Up for Racial Justice Saturday, July 18th 3-5 pm ET
UU the Vote and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) are partnering to identify and build connections with anti-racist voters in Pennsylvania. We’re inviting white folks in PA to actively join in the urgent work of racial justice and learn what non-partisan racial justice issues are at play in the election this year. We’ll host a training and practice session and then dig into calls.
Postcard Campaign with Reclaim Our Vote
We’re in the process of planning a postcard campaign which requires both time and money. The Reclaim Our Vote postcards cost $.04–$.08 depending on quantity and postage is $.35. We’re planning to submit a grant to the UUA for $500 which could be shared among congregations.
