Below is information addressing the need for equity in Delaware education funding.
“Functionally, Delaware has two public education systems. One system serves middle class students , from stable families, living in safe communities, from stable families, with positive family experiences and expectations of education. These students are mostly white, and most of these students succeed.
The second system serves students in poverty, from less stable families, living in communities at risk, with little positive experience or expectations of public education. Delaware (and U.S.) public education was never designed to meet the needs of these students. These students are mostly black and brown and most of these students do not succeed.”
