Faced with a terminal diagnosis, Delaware residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.
Here is a video from one of our members about the importance of this bill: JGVideo
The Ron Silverio/Heather Block Delaware End of Life Options Act (HB 140), named for two deceased Compassion & Choices’ storytellers who advocated passionately for the bill, has been reintroduced for the 2021/2022 legislative session starting in January 2022.
In past sessions, the bill faced challenges getting out of committee. This year, with a record number of co-sponsors, the prospects for passing this important bill have improved. This is an important UUDAN priority and we plan to lobby vigorously for passage this year.
In spring of 2022, we are targeting the House of Representatives to get this bill passed.
